“The Odyssey” by Homer. First of all, I am really glad I read the book just a year before Christopher Nolan’s movie. Timing was impeccable. As one of my first Greek tragedies, the beginning of the book seemed easy. Mostly because I have been told, or perceived the genre as a lot more difficult.

The story, on a first reading, seemed light in the beginning. But as it progressed, there were points when I needed a break, sometimes even a few days. It was towards the end, that the pace began to test my patience. The climax seemed to be approaching, but the hero’s lamentation persisted. Maybe a second reading would allow me to get better insights.

Overall, there is something special about the book and Ulysses is definitely a legend! I am not giving any spoilers, so you brave hearts can experience it yourself. Final word is that it is definitely, once in a lifetime, a must-read.
